Pam's Cafe Breckenridge

Note: I left this scene wide just to illustrate the foot print of Pam's Cafe in Breckenridge. She offers a worthy excuse to get off the interstate for a taste of Texas the way it once was. I met Pam and husband Bud for lunch a while back. If you're familiar with Dr. Who, you'll understand when I say this place is like the Tardis in that it's bigger inside than outside and it transports you through time. If I understand correctly (she was quite busy!), Pam is but the third proprietor of this time capsule which pre-dates the Great Depression. She tells me that they can't change the place up because the locals would rebel. I thought I was going to get some interior shots but when the lunch rush arrived I thought better of it. I felt like I was dining in a kitchen crowded with family members and didn't want to be too presumptive. Locals will call in their breakfast or lunch orders and their meals will be on the table when they arrive. As guests come in, conversations will be rejoined which probably started at breakfast. One of the most common questions asked as they enter: "What kind of pie do you have today?" I was there on blueberry day. I walked mine off by hiking a block east to scope out the historic courthouse. ;-) On my next visit, not long hence, I plan to get there for late breakfast or early for lunch. I want to peruse the many B&W photos adorning her walls.
